A Nation Of Laws?
The United States of America, a nation based on the rule of law. What does this mean?
Well, I’m fond of saying, “An empire is ruled by the emperor, a kingdom is ruled by the king, a dictatorship is ruled by the dictator AND, a nation of laws is ruled by the lawyers”. A nation based on the rule of law is supposed to mean that the people elect representatives to fashion laws that benefit the people. The people then adhere to these laws because they recognize the benefits.
Sadly, this is not the case.
Control of our country has been usurped by wealthy interests who exercise far more control over our elected officials than the voters. These forces instigate the passage of laws that benefit them, over the citizenry. The legal system vastly favors those with the deepest pockets. They possess the finances to endlessly appeal decisions until they bankrupt their less affluent opponents.
Those we have elected to positions of authority craft legistlation that allows them to hold onto power and enrich themselves, at the expense of their constituents. They allow the endless assumption of debt, and printing of money (oops, quantitative easing) to create the illusion of affluence that allows them to do just enough for their local communities in order to keep their jobs.
Bear in mind, it’s all LEGAL. Why? Because they create the laws that allow it to be so.
As the general population awakens to the “legally corrupt” mess that we’ve made, there is a growing hopelessness that it can be changed. When people reach this point, their respect for the laws erodes. They think nothing of stealing from large corporations or cheating on their taxes because they know that these entities are constantly stealing from them. The “rule of law” has ceased to be sacred. It is viewed as a coercive force used to pry wealth away from the masses and deposit it in the coffers of the already-wealthy. It is increasingly viewed as the mechanism of public enslavement to the globalist elite.
There are endless examples of “The Law” being used to repress segments of the population, and to “reallocate” resources to “well-connected” individuals and groups. In recent years, there are increasing efforts to restrain free speech and control views that people want to express…when they don’t align with those in power. This, make no mistake, is at the heart of the populist movements in the USA, and elsewhere.
If you want a law abiding citizenry, then you’ll need law abiding leaders. In my opinion, few humans will maintain their integrity when exposed to massive wealth and power for a long period of time. Term limits should be implemented ASAP.
Finally, there is no law abiding future without freedom. Freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to protest, freedom to pursue your own journey through this realm. Anything else is a lie. A caged animal is a dangerous animal and the population that is caged by the laws of their land ultimately becomes very dangerous, indeed.
